“I love running because there are precise plans, schedules, times and distances, which you can’t hope to have in life. Instead here I found my dimension, it’s something I can manage, I know what will happen and if it will happen and this race is proof of that! I followed workouts that weren’t always easy, I was good and also bad, but always with that goal in mind, to go back to breaking the two-hour barrier! “And then you run into the right person. Not all of them are the same. Find the right persona for you with technical skills and a peculiar empathy able to sense emotions and thoughts. And, if you succeed, something happens. You begin to understand a language that so far you never understood. And little by little the miles increase. And bolt from the blue, the change begins. Something lights up. And you realize that it’s not about the indicators that scared you so much in the beginning. It’s something else. You are still alone when you run. The fatigue is yours. But warnings and advice stick in your head. You get a second wind. You know you can make mistakes but there is someone who can correct you. There is someone who proficiently speaks that language and is able to say the right word exactly when you need it. It is no longer about running distance. This is something beyond. Beyond running.”
